I have spent the greater portion of my life in the pursuit of garden flowers and wildflowers across the Midwest. Because I was born on a small family farm in western Iowa, the observation and tending of the earth have been an integral part of my life. I am drawn to the outdoors. It is where peace, solitude, and inspiration come into my life.
Whether it was the vibrant colors observed in nature's lush palette or the colorful textiles from my mother's sewing machine, I have always been fascinated by color. Integral to my paintings is the play of light that transforms all that it touches into a beautiful prism of color.
My B.F.A. was received at Drake University in painting, art history, and education in 1977. I received my Masters Degree in painting from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1978. Professionally, I have an extensive show exhibition record in New England and Wisconsin. My work is exhibited in numerous collections. Teaching has always been one of my first loves and I have taught drawing, painting and art history to both children and adults. Some of my time has also been spent running galleries and coordinating art events for the public.
Currently, I reside in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and in Door County, where I go for inspiration.
